Overview
The MINA Protocol is the world’s lightest blockchain, designed to provide a scalable and efficient decentralized network. Unlike traditional blockchains, which grow linearly in size as more transactions are added, MINA maintains a constant size of only 22 kilobytes. Biometric Encryption:
Instead of storing biometric data (like a facial scan), the wallet uses the face to generate an encrypted, randomized, privacy-preserving hash (called a ZelfPrint or ZelfHash) that is unique to the user.
The biometric data is only used locally for the encryption process and is never stored on any server or database.
No Biometric or Data Storage:
Biometric data is never stored in any centralized or decentralized database. The system only generates a one-time hash from the biometric scan.

The zk-SNARKs technology of MINA allows for a proof-of-personhood without revealing any sensitive biometric information or requiring large amounts of storage.
Even though the user's face is used to generate a key, no biometric data is ever transmitted, and only the user has access to the private hash required to decrypt their recovery phrase.
